Is Lance’s athletic success is surpassed by his fundraising success?

Triathlon is by nature a selfish activity. It demands so much from us and people around us. But the balance can be switched by fundraising for a charity.

If you are organizing a project or activity to fundraise for charity please send me all your information and we will list your event on TriCape.com/charity list and follow it through with the posts.

Sometimes forgotten charity is probably the most important part of the amateur sports. If you are not a professional athlete, or even if you are, consider racing for charity. Every rand counts, and even if you do not raise money you are raising the awareness of the cause which is always informative and inspiring.

Tricape.com is here to help you with spreading the word.

However we will only publish charity projects from people that we know or from people that are known by the people that we know etc… you get the point. This is for obvious safety reasons. If we do not know you we can get to know you so get in touch with us. Thank you for your understanding.

When you send us your fundraising information make sure to have a full description of the project. The more information the better. Make it personal since blogging is not like print media, no need to make it like a press release, tell your own story, freely express yourself, do not try to sound formal. Also include full contacts and bank information. Project bank information is important so you can get the immediate response from the visitors, asking them to contact you to talk about sending money may cause some potential supporters not to go through with sending money. Also having all the info in one place is very practical.

Try to document your fundraising activity with photos and posts (we can give you access for posting on TriCape.com and we suggest Flickr.com for photo sharing and YouTube.com for video sharing). Also I noticed it is very good to announce the end of the activity and how much money was raised and what are your future plans.

Fundraising activities are best if they are done regularly (for example every year at the same race) instead of them being a one time deal. Although it is clear some fundraising activities are clearly a one time deal which is cool.

At the end, not everything has to be planned and perfect. Be spontaneous and feel free ask if you need any help.

Thanks!
