Well my ‘B race’ for the year has come and gone and I am satisfied with the progress so far. A new PB for the Half Ironman (70.3) distance is good motivation to make a final push towards the big one, Ironman South Africa.

One may argue that my season got underway at Ironman Western Australia but in my mind that was the end of my second year as a triathlete and following a month long break, I was looking forward to getting 2008 underway with a mad dash at the Spectrum Sport Standard Triathlon.

It has been a little more than a week since I crossed the finish line in Busselton and I have had time to reflect on the race and to try put it all in perspective. So what follows is as much a race report as it is a therapeutic exercise for me.
