Running in snow

snow running

This is obviously not a photo of me running at Seapoint promenade in Cape Town. This is me, this morning, running in a park in Belgrade, Serbia. In one week I should be in Cape Town but until than I will have to enjoy and/or suffer the snow and the cold.

I just wanted to share this photo with you as it might be inspiring. I am wearing three layers and water-proof shoes, Adidas Kumasi. I have Nike Pro underwear, running tights and pants, on top I have De Soto long sleave tight shirt, Reebok long sleave shirt and Nike wind-jacket. On my face I am wearing a Buf scarf and a Nike hat. Hat is very useful because from time to time a pile of snow falls off a tree branch and can fall on my face. Also snowflakes are quite heavy and it can be painful if they hit the eye. Glasses are not useful as they fog up in the cold.

With all this clothes it is even hard to breathe. Also we only have about 8 hours of very dimm light per day so most of my training now is either on an indoor trainer in a garage or running at night. Lack of light also makes me much more inactive which disturbes the hormones: it partially makes me slugish and gain weight faster.

However I think I am in a far better position than some of my friends who live in Sweden and Norway.

Enjoy the summer!

I AM SURE YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO CAPE TOWN - SUMMER IS A LITTLE UNCERTAIN AT THE MOMENT HOWEVER, THE RAIN HAS MANAGED TO STAY AWAY MOST CYCLE TRAINING DAYS AND THIS WEEK-END WAS AMAZING - I AM ACTUALLY PEELING FROM ALL MY TIME IN THE SUN!!! SEE YOU SOON
