Showdown DVD by Peter Han

Producer and director Peter Han, from WIT Media, has published another endurance sports documentary - Showdown - but this time about the daily lives of five elite runners: Abdi Abdirahman, Alan Culpepper, Meb Keflezighi, Dathan Ritzenhein and Jorge Torres.

I have just ordered the DVD but I am convinced I will enjoy it. I have watched the previous movie by Peter Han - What It takes - which focuses on Ironman preparation and World Championship 2005. This movie has motivated me so many times - and so well too! - that I can not wait to get Showdown (this is not a sales pitch :) ).

This kind of movies are very useful when it comes to motivation but also they break the barrier and show that elite athletes are same as we are - but they are dedicated and work very hard over a long period of time. Lesson learned from Peter Han’s movies, just as from endurance sports in general, is that if you apply yourself 100% you must get results.

However triathlon is always very confusing with all the equipment and fireworks so triathletes often forget that the most important element of the sport is continuous hard work- not equipment. Running however has this simplicity which makes it beautiful - it is just about you and the road - no distractions.

I am eager to see the difference between What It Takes and Showdown. I am sure the two, at first glance, similar sports might appear very different. Also I am interested to see if and how Peter Han has emphasized this as his first movie was about Ironman triathletes and his second about elite runners.

I will write a report as soon as I see the movie…

I also interviewed Peter Han a while ago for one of my blogs - check out the interview here. Also visit Showdownrace.com and WITmovie.com.
