South African websites

I don’t know about the rest of you but there are a few websites that I visit on a regular basis. This being Friday I figured I would share a few of them with you.

The Hub SA banner
The Hub SA

Essentially a cycling forum and the topics can often get quite heated and personal but it does have a large member base and if you can sift through all the hidden agenda’s and personal chats there are often valuable snippets of information. They have a few triathletes that post regularly and the bigger events like Ironman SA provoke a lot of discussion. The home page also has RSS feeds from other international and local cycling websites which makes it a good one-stop-shop.

Troisport shop
Troisport

Home of the first real triathlon store in Joburg but thats not my only reason for visiting this site. One of the problems with most SA websites is that they are not updated regularly and this irritates me. It’s still early days so time will tell if they remain as enthusiastic as they are now but I think they understand the importance of web exposure so I expect the site to remain current. They are also hosting a number of events which are a welcome addition to the calendar and there is something to suit just about everyone out there.

WPTA
Western Province Triathlon

There is nothing particularly spectacular about this site but it is the only governing body site that is kept current and you can usually find information pertaining to matter official here. I wish all the provincial bodies as well as our national body kept their sites as current as these guys do.

Berger-Horner
My Training Day

Run by Claire Kinsley and Kent Horner this site is packed full of information and advice. A great place to get results and race reviews (other than TriCape of course) but what I enjoy most is their galleries.

As you can see it’s not all about the look and feel of the site. Yes I love crisp, clean, new generation websites but as long as you keep it updated and ensure the content is of interest to people I will keep coming back.
