Triathlon One O One
April 12th, 2007 by Nikola TosicThe new race series is up - at least its new for me as I was not aware of it before - it is called Triathlon 101 and it mimics the old ITU long distance format: 3k swim + 130k bike + 30k run. So it fills the gap between the half Ironman (70.3) and full Ironman (140.6). Somewhere around Jailbreak format which I commented earlier as very interesting and refreshing (it’s in the bottom).
Again, I’ve written a small article about it at IronCrazy.com (I am sorry I make readers go back and forth between blogs but I write more general Ironman related posts on IronCrazy.com while I stick to South African related commentary on TriCape.com).
South Africa, obviously, is growing rapidly into a significant triathlon market and I guess that within next few years small race organizers might consider purchasing licences from fresh race series like Triathlon 101. Since both Xterra and Ironman, and even ITU, have experienced nice little booms I do not see the reason why even more race series would not become local eventually. It just takes one entrepreneur in love with triathlon.
